Kyungwoon Saemaul International University provided Saemaul training for 31 Chinese rural village leaders for five days and four nights, from June 11~15. The closing ceremony was held at the university main building, on June 15 at 4 pm.

The Chinese trainees arrived in Korea on June 10 and started their training course from the following day. The topics covered in the lectures were: 1) Saemaul spirit, 2) the history of Saemaul Undong, and 3)Saemaul Undong in the 21st century. Lectures were followed by field visits to Shindori, Chungdo province and the ginseng farm in Yeongju city.

The participants participated in discussion sessions under the theme of “Ways to adapt Saemaul Undong to China.” They also praised the successful progress of Saemual Undong in Korea, realizing the importance of a similar movement in China as well.

Kyungwoon Saemaul International University was established in the Saemaul research center of Kyungwoon University in May last year. The university has conducted six training sessions so far. 150 trainees from Vietnam and China have successfully completed the Saemaul training course.
